Wheaton Together Celebrates Campaign Progress.

Guests gathered in Washington, D.C and in New York City for the College’s inaugural Wheaton Together celebrations.

After dinner, students, faculty, and staff both in person, and on video, shared how the From the Heart, For the Kingdom’s efforts are helping to make each Wheaton student’s education more remarkable, relevant, and reachable for the students of today and the leaders of tomorrow.

Among the presenters were President Philip Ryken ’88, Vice President for Advancement, Vocation, & Alumni Engagement Kirk Farney M.A. ’98, and current students Katie Knox ’17 at the D.C event, and Dana Henderson ’17 in New York.

Also presenting were Dean of the Conservatory, Arts, & Communication Michael Wilder; Dean of Humanities & Theological Studies Jill Baumgaertner at the D.C. event and in New York, Associate Professor of Music Shawn Okpebholo.

Each speaker voiced the benefits of Wheaton’s extraordinary Christian liberal arts education and how by partnering with the campaign, we will address the challenges facing Wheaton students now and for generations to come.

The guests also enjoyed musical performances by baritone virtuoso Nathaniel Olson ’11, soprano Julianne Olson, and pianist Jonathan King ’10—who accompanied the performers at the D.C. event—and Youngmin You ’16 at the dinner in New York.

The evening closed with prayer lead by Board of Trustee members Kathryn Hess Vaselkiv ’83, at the D.C. dinner, and David Gieser ’71, in NYC.

During the dessert reception, guests gathered for photos in front of a life-like replica of Blanchard and the Wheaton College sign. Parting gifts were handed to guests as they exited.

One guest emailed the next day exclaiming:

“Wow! What a great evening, and so many great people and of course the reason to be there.”
